To make smooth and unlimited searching possible, we have redesigned the interface. Starting a new search has been given a more prominent place, and the search form has moved to a collapsible sidebar. This allows you to always see exactly what you searched for and start a new search immediately.

Credits are now only needed for saving a search query (so you receive a notification when new potential matches are found) and for automatically cross-referencing your family tree with our entire database via a GEDCOM file.

FelixArchief Antwerp – Causes of Death – 377,755 records

This unique database is the result of the citizen science project S.O.S. Antwerp. Thanks to the efforts of more than 750 volunteers, the death cause registers from 1820 to 1946 have been digitized. Antwerp was far ahead of the rest of Belgium in this regard. In addition to the cause of death, the records contain details such as name, age, marital status, and occupation of the deceased, providing a rare and detailed glimpse into life and mortality in the city of Antwerp.

Thanks to years of dedication from municipalities and volunteers, these "stony witnesses" are now searchable for everyone looking for their roots.
