This month we are adding a handy new feature: you can now export your search results as a PDF. The document contains working links to the original sources, so you can easily store your results in your personal archive or print them for later use. We have also further refined our matching algorithm and made searches even faster. And because May is the month in which we commemorate the liberation, we are adding four new sources as a tribute to the many war victims from France, Belgium and the Netherlands.

You can now export the results of any search as a PDF. All matches are displayed in a clear overview, including clickable links to the original sources. A handy document to keep in your genealogical records or to follow up at your own pace on paper.

4 new sources: war victims

On May 8th, we commemorate the end of the Second World War in Europe. A moment to reflect on the many men and women who gave their lives for our freedom — even though their names remain unknown to many of us. By adding these four new sources, we hope to change that, so that your ancestors are not forgotten. Together these sources contain more than 6.2 million records on war victims from France, Belgium and the Netherlands.

🇫🇷 Mémoire des Hommes – 6,052,415 records
Mémoire des Hommes is the cultural portal of the French Ministry of Armed Forces. The database brings together military archives spanning multiple conflicts: from the First and Second World War to the Indochina War, the Korean War and the fighting in Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia. The data is open data and now automatically searchable via GeneaGenie. An essential source for anyone with French military ancestors.

🇧🇪 War Dead Register – 54,425 records
The War Dead Register brings together data on Belgian military casualties and fallen soldiers on Belgian soil. A valuable addition for anyone searching for family members who lost their lives during the major conflicts of the twentieth century.

🇧🇪 Bel-Memorial – 53,341 records
Bel-Memorial pays tribute to all those who perished in the armed conflicts involving Belgium. The site provides a detailed overview of memorial monuments, plaques and steles across Belgium, with the names of all victims engraved on them. A unique and valuable source for anyone tracing their military ancestors.

🇳🇱 WO2 Slachtoffers – Genealogie Online – 73,764 records
This Dutch database is the result of a collective effort by family tree researchers who have enriched their publications on Genealogie Online with data on victims of the Second World War. By bringing all these contributions together, a unique overview of Dutch war victims has emerged — enriched with family connections and links to other sources.
